About the Crew

Come in and say Hello to..

Alice Pyatte Sudderth serves the Humane Society as director.  She investigates cruelty cases, makes sure the animal shelter operates smoothly, and takes care of all the business involving the Society. Alice started a program with Mountain View Correctional Facility called "New Leash on Life". She has been with the humane society since 1982. Alice works with the community to keep it updated with the shelter and always puts a lot of love into her work.

This is little Jaden Brice. He is Alice's brand new Grandson. Not to mention the only grandson she has.  His parents are Amber Taylor and Jason Pyatt of Newland.

This is Haley. She is Jaden's big sister. She takes her role very seriously. She also likes to come in and pet the cats and kittens. What kid wouldn't love to have a job like this one?

Shelter Manager

This is me, Charlene Calhoun. I have worked here for over four years now. If you asked me to pick what is my favorite section to work in I wouldn't be able to answer. I had planned on finishing school and becoming a counselor for children in school or a hospital situation. I was asked by my sister (who worked here at the time) if I would be interested in doing the website for the shelter. I started just updating what was already here but adding my own little touches. Before I knew it I was working on it full time and had found a couple other websites that allow shelters to post their animals for free. It wasn't long until I felt that I would love to work closer with the animals. I have worked in each area with all ages of cats and dogs. I feel this is exactly where I am supposed to be. This February I started helping Alice with the "New Leash on Life" program. I will be helping to train inmates on training the dogs and then placing them in forever homes.

Feline Caregiver ~ Supervisor

This is Sabrina McClellan. We hired Sabrina to work with the cats and kittens. She takes her job very seriously. You can ask her anything about any of them and she knows the answer. Sabrina makes it in to work even when she is feeling bad because she knows the animals depend on her.

Jamie Banner works with the puppies. Jamie makes sure the puppy area is spic and span and can tell you all about their personalities and which one might be best for your environment.

This is Brittany Umphlett. Brittany has been trained to work with all areas of the shelter. She is very gentle and soft spoken and that is just what these babies like! Brittany has also proven that she can be just as strong as the big dogs and doesn't mind cleaning up their messes!

Alex Cornwell has came back to help with the animals. He primarily works with the dog room. Alex has always been a friend of the shelter and all the staff. We are glad to have him back.
