"Mountain Home Security System"
by JoAnn Becker

HEAVY PETTING 2006

Wildflower Fine Art, Purveyors of Art & Design, and Art Cellar Gallery sponsored Heavy Petting 2006, an art show.  The event was held at the Art Cellar with Wildflower and Purveyors donating prizes.  Tim Ford, an accredited artist and professor at Appalachian State University, was the show judge.

First place was awarded to JoAnn Becker for “Mountain Home Security System,” second by Julie Elsworth with “Leo,” and third to Michel Oliver for “What’s That?”  Prints of “Mountain Home Security System” are available for purchase on our web site, www.averyhumane.org.

Wildflower Fine Art, Erick’s Cheese and Wine, Loaves and Fishes, Sorrento’s, and Blackboard Restaurant donated refreshments.

Michel Oliver donated a custom pet portrait which was won by Dr. P.V. Kromer.  Many local artists sent their paintings, with free framings by Art Cellar, for our silent auction.

Over $3,000 was generated by the event, all of which was given to Avery Humane Society.  We are so grateful for this generous act, which helps us take care of so many needy animals.
