Directions To Our Shelter

From Elk Park, NC:
Follow 19-E and head straight onto NC-194 South toward Newland for approximately 11 miles. Take the right fork onto US-221 South. After approximately 3 miles, turn right onto Stamey Branch Rd. Look for us on the right after 1.8 miles.

From Johnson City, TN (and locations to our west, including Roan Mountain and Elizabethton):
Take US-321 to Elizabethton and turn right onto US 19-E. Follow 19-E into Elk Park, North Carolina. Continue straight on this highway (signs change to NC-194 South) toward Newland for approximately 11 miles. Take the right fork onto US 221 South. After approximately 3 miles, turn right onto Stamey Branch Rd. Look for us on the right after 1.8 miles.

From Asheville, NC:
You have two options. Depending on your preference, you will either travel I-26 to US-19 E or I-40 to US-221 North.

To follow US-221 North: Head east on I-40 towards Statesville. Take exit 85 and turn left at the bottom of the ramp for US-221 North. Travel approximately 1 mile and turn left at the light to follow US-221 North. Continue to follow US-221 North for 29 miles until you see Stamey Branch Rd and the Avery County Humane Society sign on the left. Turn left onto Stamey Branch Rd and look for us on the right after 1.8 miles.

To follow US-19 E North: Head west on I-26 towards Weaverville. Take the exit for US-19 E North and follow US 19-E North for approximately 30 miles. Turn right on NC-194 North/Linville Falls Highway/US-221 North for approximately 4 miles. At US-221 North, turn left and travel approximately 1.5 miles. Turn left onto Stamey Branch and look for us on the right after 1.8 miles.

From Charlotte, NC:
Starting on the South Side of Charlotte: Take I-85 South to Gastonia, NC. Take exit 17 for US-321 North. Follow US-321 North to I-40 West in Hickory and take exit 43B for I-40 West towards Morganton. Exit 105 will take you towards NC Hwy 181. Follow the signs and head north from Morganton. Turn left at US-221 South/Linville Falls Highway. After approximately 4.5 miles, turn right onto Stamey Branch Rd and look for us on the right after 1.8 miles.

Starting on the North Side of Charlotte: Take I-77 North to Statesville. Take exit 51B for I-40 West toward Hickory. Exit 105 will take you towards NC Hwy 181. Follow the signs and head north from Morganton. Turn left at US-221 South/Linville Falls Highway. After approximately 4.5 miles, turn right onto Stamey Branch Rd and look for us on the right after 1.8 miles.

From Boone, NC:
Follow NC 105 South to Linville. Turn right at the stoplight for US-221 in Linville. Turn left at the next stoplight onto US-221 South. Follow US-221 South for 7.5 miles. Turn right onto Stamey Branch Rd and look for us on the right after 1.8 miles.

From Winston-Salem, NC (and locations to our east):
Follow US-421 West to Boone, NC. Turn left onto NC 105 South to Linville. Turn right at the stoplight for US-221 in Linville. Turn left at the next stoplight onto US-221 South. Follow US-221 South for 7.5 miles. Turn right onto Stamey Branch Rd and look for us on the right after 1.8 miles.
